10A car battery charger - The charger is suitable for lead-acid car batteries and it is assembled in two units: a metal box with the toroidal transformer, instrument, lights, etc, and a small plastic box housing the voltage and temperature circuit. Connection between main box and sensor is realized with a standard 3 core x 1mm, electric cable, 4m long. Its resistance is factored in the circuit calculations and it is the limiting resistor against.

160 Baud ALDL Hardware Interface - This interface allows  vehicle's ALDL data stream to be displayed in real time on a PC using simple software.  hardware is designed to be able to be constructed by  average hobbyist who has a temperature controlled soldering iron and basic skills in constructing simple electronics. It uses a minimum of (readily available) components consistent with good electronics design.

2 Watt Switching Power Supply - In this small switching power supply, a Schmitt trigger oscillator is used to drive a switching transistor that supplies current to a small inductor. Energy is stored in the inductor while the transistor is on, and released into the load circuit when the transistor switches off. The output voltage is dependent on the load resistance and is limited by a zener diode that stops the oscillator when the voltage reaches about 14 volts. Higher or lower voltages can be obtained by adjusting the voltage divider that feeds the zener diode. The efficiency is about 80% using a high Q inductor.

Bike Device - For starters, I mounted a 7 amp-hour gel-cell on the frame so that I wouldn't have to keep buying batteries for the headlight.  The headlight is a 12 watt Malibu light from Home Depot complete with a very good diffraction lens. The horn is a scavenged auto alarm from Walmart.  I just use the horn with.

Bike Light Flasher (Randy Linscott) - This circuit will flash an incandescent light that you can purchase from Radio Shack. Adjust the VR's for your flash requirements and make sure that the lamp you use is designed to put out high brightness.

Breakdown Beacon - This is a very simple automotive project you can keep in the boot of the car for those unfortunate occasions when you break down.  I hope this will not be very often but the chances of a breakdown are always greatest on a cold and windy night, just when you need some sort of warning to say you are laid-up at the side of the road.
